Why option volume matters
Options volume tells you which strikes are ACTIVELY TRADED right now — not just held. High-volume strikes are the ones institutions are re-hedging, retail is speculating on, and market-makers are quoting tightly. Direction of volume (buyer-initiated vs seller-initiated) reveals the aggressor and thus the immediate demand pressure. Most Indian platforms show raw volume; only OptionAlgo classifies the aggressor from the live Kotak 5-level depth feed.
How to read aggressor delta
buyΔ positive at a call strike = buyers lifting the offer = short-term bullish pressure on that strike (people are speculating on upside). buyΔ negative at a put strike = sellers hitting the bid = someone unwinding puts (bullish for spot). The top-6 rows show absolute volume plus buyΔ. Cross-reference with the strike's location: heavy buyΔ on ATM calls with rising spot = confirmation of the move; heavy buyΔ on OTM calls with flat spot = fear of missing out / potential fade.
The Kotak 5-level depth advantage
NSE displays 5 bid and 5 ask levels for options — this is the ORDER BOOK we read from Kotak Neo. Every trade prints against a specific bid or ask level. If the trade price ≥ ask → buyer-initiated. If ≤ bid → seller-initiated. Aggregating over 1-min bars gives the aggressor delta. Sensibull, Opstra and other retail platforms don't do this — they only show total volume. Our /orderflow terminal has the full per-strike option footprint with bid/ask volume at each price.
Aggressor delta + OI change = the full picture
Aggressor delta says WHO INITIATED. OI change says whether the trade OPENED or CLOSED a position. Combining: buyer-initiated + OI rising = new longs (bullish for that strike). seller-initiated + OI rising = new shorts (bearish). buyer-initiated + OI falling = short covering (bullish spot). seller-initiated + OI falling = long liquidation (bearish spot). This 4-quadrant classification is exactly what our /orderflow footprint chart plots per 5-min bar.
Real-time streaming (paid)
This page is a 60-sec cached snapshot. For tick-level per-strike aggressor tape, footprint bars, DOM ladder, and replay controls, use the [Order Flow terminal](/orderflow). Paid tier because the underlying Kotak Neo depth pipe processes 30K+ quote updates/second continuously.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is aggressor delta?
Trades that hit the ask are buyer-initiated (bullish pressure); trades that hit the bid are seller-initiated (bearish). The daily sum is aggressor delta.
Do other Indian platforms show this?
Not at retail tier. Sensibull, Opstra, TradingView show volume only. Our aggressor breakdown is unique.
Where does the depth data come from?
Kotak Neo 5-level depth feed, streamed continuously and normalised into per-bar aggressor volume.
How fresh is this?
60-second cache on the public page. Real-time in /orderflow terminal (paid tier).
Why does aggressor delta matter more than raw volume?
Raw volume tells you activity. Aggressor delta tells you DIRECTIONAL demand. Same volume with +80% buy aggressor is very different from +80% sell aggressor.
